“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough criticized those who supported former President Donald Trump for “deliberately choosing to lie” as he pushed his baseless claims of voter fraud ahead of the November election. (Watch the video below.)
“People say, ‘Donald Trump says this, I don’t know what to believe, but if you turn on the cable news channels on the right, they’re lying 24 hours a day, and they say that whatever he says is true,'” the host said.
Scarborough spoke directly to the men: “You know what the truth is, and you deliberately choose to lie. You know where the light is, and you deliberately choose to be dark.”

Trump has repeated his blathering about “fraud” in the 2020 election results and has cynically threatened to jail anyone who tries to rig the 2024 election before the polls even begin, in an attempt to sow doubt. The former president, who will debate vice president Kamala Harris on Tuesday, warned, without evidence, on Truth Social that Pennsylvania would flip to Democrats if they “allow them to cheat.”
“Please beware of voter fraud,” Trump told his North Carolina supporters in a clip shown on his MSNBC show. “We’re starting early. … Beware of voter fraud, because without voter fraud, we would win too easily.”
When Trump brought up past falsehoods again, Scarborough countered with a fact-checking exercise.
He cited the government’s cybersecurity chief who called 2020 “the most secure election on record” (and was fired by Trump for saying that). The host added that legal challenges brought by Trump and his allies have failed in dozens of cases, and that GOP poll watchers in several states have certified the results as authentic. “But the lies continue,” Scarborough said.
