Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked officials to take urgent measures to mitigate the situation arising from the heavy rains that have lashed the state in the past 24 hours.
Mr Naidoo told a review meeting on Saturday morning (August 31, 2024) that officials from all relevant departments should be on alert in view of the possibility of more rain.
He warned that the constant rain could cause power lines to down and people to fall into manholes.
The governor also directed officials to install flood warning signs in swollen streams and rivers where water flows into canals and to send warning messages to cell phones.
