Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union celebrated a major milestone today: their happy 10th wedding anniversary!
On Friday, the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary by posting several photos.
One particularly touching photo is of his five-year-old daughter Kavia, who was seen in tears during the event.
The photo was shared on Kaavia’s Instagram account with the sweet caption: “Happy anniversary mom and dad! P.S. Mom’s song was so beautiful it made me cry.”
The song in question? It’s Shania Twain’s classic hit “Still The One,” which Kaavia introduced in a video slideshow.
Dwayne and Gabriel looked back on 10 years of love and partnership in a joint Instagram post.
“10 years of very long, very fun, very loving, never-ending sleepovers with my friend, lover, partner, and best friend,” they wrote. “Through sickness and health, crises and celebrations, bad golf days and missed lines and new adventures, we have united and thrived. Ten toes down, ten years gone, forever left behind.”
There were a few video clips from the celebration, along with photos. In one candid moment, Dwyane admitted that the ninth year of marriage was particularly difficult. “Year nine was hard for us. We looked back on how we got here,” he shared.
But the former Miami Heat star, who shares Gabriel and Kavia and has children Javier, 10, Zaya, 17, and Zaire, 22, from previous relationships, expressed his deep gratitude for his wife’s unwavering support.
“Thank you for being there to show me everything I’ve forgotten,” he said. “Thank you for continuing to show me that you’re not going anywhere. That you’re willing to love me through my flaws and my moments of growth. So thank you for teaching me and thank you for believing in me.”
Gabrielle, moved by Dwayne’s words, responded with a heartfelt speech, acknowledging the support system that has supported their marriage over the years.
“That’s all I said,” she said. “You know, we’ve been on this road for a long time. And it’s been long and beautiful and winding, but you’ve been there every turn. You’ve always led us back.”
