Fabrizio Romano shared a transfer update just before midday, suggesting Liverpool could be set to complete a second signing within 24 hours.
The club appear to be one step closer to signing Federico Chiesa, who has now expressed his willingness to leave, after confirming the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili on Tuesday night.

With Mamardashvili signed and Chiesa confirmed, some Liverpool fans may be wondering why positions that appear to be higher priorities aren’t being addressed in the final 72 hours of the transfer window.
However, the Georgian’s arrival in 2025 would provide a long-term replacement for Allison Becker, while the Juventus striker would be a much-needed replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right flank.
At 26, he is in his prime as a player and has already amassed a wealth of high-quality experience, having made over 300 appearances in Serie A, European club tournaments and the Italian national team (Euro 2020 winners) and scored 62 goals (according to Transfermarkt).
Chiesa would give Liverpool an additional option to play anywhere across the forward line, not just on the right. While some fans are understandably concerned about Chiesa’s injury record, he is not a player the Reds will rely on heavily from the get-go.
Furthermore, if The Athletic’s report that Juventus value him at just €15m (£12.7m) is true, Liverpool could sign him for a surprisingly low fee in today’s market, given his impressive pedigree.
With the Italian now open to a move to Anfield, things are expected to move quickly and a second signing could be made in the coming days.
