As RR explains, the sequence itself wasn’t effective, and the only reason it didn’t go straight to the cut was because of Rob’s performance.
Reynolds said he added a lot of intensity to the film and was grateful that his close friend flew all the way to London for him… but it wasn’t just fate.
But Ryan revealed Rob’s character’s fate, admitting that a giant creature ate him and eventually excreted him. It wasn’t a very heroic ending for Rob.
We already knew Rob’s cameo was going to be cut, because he told everyone the day the movie came out.

He shared a photo of them posing together. hugh jackman On set, he joked that the theater he went to accidentally cut his part, and that he had flown 6,000 miles to film the scene, and that he knew Ryan would never do that to him.
FYI… “Deadpool & Wolverine” is back at the top of the box office in its fifth week of release, and Wrexham has won two of its first three league games, so I think the two friends are pretty happy about the unfortunate editing.
