Shark Tank investor Kevin O’Leary suggests Vice President Harris could be Hillary Clinton 2.0.
“If Harris actually loses — and it’s 50-50, she could win or she could lose — this entire party, the Democratic Party, is going to take a second look at what happened here,” O’Leary said Saturday on Fox News.
“They did the same thing to Hillary Clinton,” Mediaite added.
O’Leary argued that the reason Clinton and Harris’ situations are similar is because they both received support from the Democratic Party.
As pressure grows on President Biden to suspend his campaign and let someone else run, questions have been raised about who would replace him and whether the party would hold some sort of mini-primary in which interested candidates could run.
When Biden announced he was stepping down, he endorsed Harris as his running mate. Since then, leading Democrats have joined him in endorsing Harris, and she officially became the party’s nominee at the Democratic National Convention this week.
Harris said if she loses to Trump in the coming election, as Clinton did in 2016, “the party will never do this again.”
“I’m not saying she would lose, but I wouldn’t let that happen,” he said. “When I sell a business, I tell my managers not to make a single offer, just bring the process. Show me that there are no other bids that I want. Then I’ll make the decision to sell.”
O’Leary said he was surprised the Democratic party didn’t give anyone else a chance to run, including Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.), who has been mentioned as a possible candidate.
“There could have been another candidate, or (Harris) could have been much stronger, but they didn’t do it,” he said. “That would have been a huge mistake.”
