Bang. Hideo Kojima is back. Well, he’s back to tweeting out Death Stranding 2 teasers with questions written over the image of a faceless actor, and asking people to ask questions like: Who? How? And now what?
Yes, on Monday morning at 9AM local time, the week of the video game event – Gamescom, you may have heard of it – the developer posted a teaser image that may or may not be a hint at the show. One thing is for sure, fans are pretty sure which actor’s face is in the teaser.

Below you can find the latest Kojima teaser. As far as I know, this is the first time the director has posted a teaser of this kind in a while. The marketing for Death Stranding 2 was full of these, and the most memorable one was when Kojima Productions announced to everyone that Elle Fanning was in the game. They used the same ‘blank outline, here’s a question mark’ method that is used here.
But in this case, it took people about 10 minutes to figure it out. No, it’s not Mads Mikkelsen, he’s not in the game. I think Kenjiro Tsuda, famous for Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, is the guy Kojima is hinting at. Of course, Tsuda also provides the Japanese voice acting for Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus.

Naturally, fans on Reddit are speculating that this teaser could be hinting that Tsuda will be doing full performance capture for his character in DS2, rather than just providing a voice for a character that has been motion captured and modeled by someone else. So it remains to be seen if that actually happens.
Given the inevitable timing, the teaser has also led to fan speculation that Kojima could be appearing at Gamescom this week to share some DS2-related content. The game was last seen at State of Play in January, and PlayStation is skipping the show again this year, so don’t expect too much. But you never know. Remember when Kojima showed up at ONL a few years ago and told Geoff Keighley he was going to be releasing a podcast called Brain Structure?
Was learning about that podcast a highlight of Gamescom 2022? And did this latest Death Stranding 2 teaser get you all excited? Let us know below!
