The developers of Fallout London are planning to start a new indie game studio.
In an interview with the BBC, Dean Carter of Team Folon said the group plans to release a stability update for the recently released Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition mod, as well as additional content as part of a larger patch that could be released later this year.
Beyond that, the Polon team wants to transition from a group of volunteer modders to a full-fledged indie studio.
“Fallout London will continue until we have basically all the content that we had to cut for launch, so there is another ending called the Wild Card ending, which will basically be coming in one of the future patches,” Carter said.
“We’re aiming for small patches for stability reasons and such, but ultimately there will be a larger patch that basically includes everything that wasn’t in the original release, and that will be around the time we finish finishing Fallout London.
“It’s not going to happen anytime soon,” he continued. “We’re probably going to be able to do it by the end of the year, but there’s definitely going to be a point where we think we’re done, because as much as we love the fact that this is a free project that we can give to the whole community, free doesn’t pay our bills.
“The good thing for us is that a lot of people who really enjoyed it have donated to us. What we’re doing is passing that on to Team Folon, which is obviously where we’re going to move. And then hopefully we can start our own indie game company, so that we can come up with our own ideas, make our own games, and really engage with the community without having to talk to Bethesda or someone above us.”
After years of development, Fallout London was released on July 25th.
According to GOG, Fallout London was traded over 500,000 times in the first 24 hours after release, making it “the fastest-traded game in GOG history.”
