For a story titled “The Worst Three Weeks in Donald Trump’s 2024 Campaign,” the Times interviewed more than a dozen people close to the Republican Party who described how his 2024 campaign is going from bad to worse.
Mr. Trump has been in a vehement mood over the past few weeks. He has lashed out at Ms. Harris, calling her a “bitch” on “Fox & Friends” and repeatedly calling her a “bitch” in private when the two men heard the remark on separate occasions.
“That is not the language the president has used to describe Kamala, and that is not how the campaign has characterized her,” Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chung said in the Times article.
The move comes after President Trump questioned Harris’s race during an interview at a National Association of Black Journalists event in Chicago last month.
“I didn’t know she was black until she happened to be black a few years ago,” Trump said at the time. “And now she wants to be known as black. So, I don’t know if she’s Indian or black.”
According to the Times, President Trump met with concerned donors on August 2 and defended Harris for questioning her race.
“I think I was right,” Trump reportedly said. “I am who I am,” he added.
