A special edition DualSense controller celebrating Astro Bot is available for pre-order, but is selling out quickly.
Featuring a similar white and blue design to the Astro, the controller is available from PlayStation Direct in the US and UK, as well as in European territories where PlayStation Direct is available. It is also available from select other retailers.
The controller will cost $79.99/€79.99/£69.99 and will be available in “limited quantities”.
In the UK, it appears to have already sold out on PlayStation Direct, but at the time of writing it’s still available to pre-order from other stores, including GAME.
The limited edition controller is based on the ‘living’ controller seen in the first trailer for Astro Bot.
“I know many of you have been looking forward to this after seeing the game’s trailer,” said Team Asobi Studio Head Nicolas Doucet on the official PlayStation blog.
“So we quickly asked our lovely bots to engineer this beauty, and voila! No, no, just kidding. It’s been in the making for quite some time, and has been carefully crafted by the wonderful team at SIE. And they did a fantastic job.
“The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handle and buttons, engraved sci-fi lines, and the touchpad’s trademark pair of playful eyes. It’s a true work of art, and Team Asobi couldn’t be happier with the end result.”
According to Sony, Astro Bot, which is set to launch in September, will task players with rescuing “over 150 iconic VIP bots inspired by legendary characters from 30 years of PlayStation history.”
The platformer is based on Astro’s Playroom, a popular PlayStation 5 package that has currently been shipped to over 60 million consoles.
