Manchester United fans can breathe a sigh of relief after reading the latest injury update on Rasmus Hoilund.
The club’s supporters have been left waiting anxiously to find out the severity of the injury suffered by Høylund during the pre-season match against Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium at the weekend.
United lost 2-1 to Mikel Arteta’s side but won the shootout after full time with Jadon Sancho scoring the winner.
Hoylund broke the deadlock just 10 minutes into the game, beating a defender and finishing with a stunning finish.
Shortly after finding the net, Høylund suffered what appeared to be a muscle injury. Not wanting to make matters worse, Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff decided to leave the Danish international out.
He was replaced by Hannibal Mejbri in the false nine role, with Carrington Academy graduate Ethan Wheatley playing the second half.
According to The Sun, Hoylund’s injury is not serious and the goalscorer is expected to be out for an extended period.
The paper noted that “Rasmus Hojlund also left the game with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.”
“I don’t think it will be a long-term problem, just a slight pull that might keep him out of the second leg of the tour against Real Betis.”
United are due to play Betis early on Thursday morning, with kick-off at 3am BST.
All eyes will be on who Ten Hag will deploy to replace Hojlund, with Hannibal certainly not making much of an impact when on the pitch in that position.
After Betis, United face Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the final game of their pre-season tour of the United States on Sunday.
