A second man injured in an assassination attempt on former President Trump has been released from a Pittsburgh hospital, a spokesperson for the hospital group confirmed to The Hill.
James Copenhaver, 74, was released from Allegheny General Hospital on Friday, a spokesperson for Highmark Health told The Hill.
He was one of two spectators shot at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. The other victim, 57-year-old David “Jake” Deutch, was released from Allegheny General Hospital last week, CBS News reported.
The extent of the injuries was not immediately released.
The shooting comes just over two weeks after spectator Cory Comperatore was killed and the former president was wounded in the ear with a bullet as he spoke at a rally.
An online fundraiser hosted by Trump and his allies to honor Comperatore and two others injured in the shooting has raised more than $6 million.
Copenhaver’s family thanked those who cared for him last week and offered prayers for other shooting victims, Butler’s KDKA reported.
“Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medical personnel and hospital staff who provided him with early and ongoing care,” the family said in a statement released by Allegheny Health Network, according to KDKA. “He prays for a safe and speedy recovery for them all.”
Al Quay, a supervisor for Moon Township, said KDKA Copenhagen is a frequent attendee at board meetings.
“Jim is such a good guy, and I couldn’t believe something like that happened to him,” Quay told the outlet.
Trump said last week he would hold another rally in Butler, but it is unclear when or where it would take place. The Secret Service, which is under investigation after the Butler rally, has urged Trump and his team not to hold outdoor rallies since the shooting.
The former president has campaigned several times since the shootings, including once in Michigan and once in North Carolina. He has worn a bandage over the ear where he was shot at every public appearance since the Butler rally.
