The Halo Championship Series Atlanta Major is now underway and will run through the weekend. With a $250,000 prize pool on the line, there is plenty to compete for, and both OpTic Gaming and FaZe Clan come into the tournament with strong leads and a capable showing. While FaZe Clan has dominated the tournament and is in good form after winning the HCS London Major, OpTic Gaming has a lot to fight for this time around.
Running for the Champion
After the HCS Atlanta Major, the players will travel to Salt Lake City to compete in the final Major of the season. Then, all eyes will be on the World Championship, which will be held at Xbox’s home base in Seattle, Washington in October. Last year’s Champs tournament ended with an epic showdown between FaZe and OpTic, with the former team winning the top prize.
It looks like we may head in that direction again this year.
The HCS Atlanta Major got off to a great start with FaZe Clan dominating the boards. The team is on fire on the stat sheet, with Snakebite posting a 1.79 K/D. Three of the top five on the leaderboard are from FaZe Clan.
In a brief interview with The Narrative, Snakebite revealed his feelings about the tournament so far.
I would say we are happy with the way we played. We won both series 3-0 so we can’t complain too much, but we need a lot more energy going into the weekend. We know that, so we hope to bring it.
OpTic Gaming were somewhat behind, winning 3-2 against Pure, but then crushed ITB in the next series, showing that the team still needs some work to get back to full form ahead of the next stage.
