A recent poll found that a majority of Americans “do not believe” former President Trump would “accept the results and concede once the votes are certified” if he loses the upcoming presidential election.
A CNN poll released Tuesday found that 77% of Americans “think” Trump would “accept the results and not concede once the votes are certified” if he doesn’t win this fall. Only 28% of people in the poll said they believe Trump would “accept the results and not concede once the votes are certified” if he doesn’t win the upcoming election.
Meanwhile, 78% of Americans said they “think” Biden would “accept the results and not concede once the votes are certified” if he does not win in the fall. The poll found that 22% said they believe Biden would “accept the results and not concede once the votes are certified” if he does not win the upcoming election.
Biden has had a tough week in the media after a poor performance in last week’s presidential debate, in which he stuttered and his voice became hoarse. The debate performance raised questions about whether the president could drop out of the Democratic race.
The Biden campaign sent a memo to all staffers Wednesday saying the polls are tight for Trump, which comes amid the difficulties the campaign has faced since last week’s debate. The memo said the campaign was bracing for “a lot of chatter and analysis” surrounding the new polls, but “last night’s internal battleground toplines show a steady race.”
The poll was conducted between June 28 and 30, with 1,274 respondents, and the margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.
Congress has reached out to the Trump campaign.
