Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, get out of the way. Another love story comes to Kansas City.
Hallmark and Skydance Sports are teaming up with the NFL to produce an original holiday movie titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.” The film stars Tyler Hynes, Hunter King and Ed Begley Jr. and will be filmed entirely on location in Kansas City, according to NFL Media.
The film’s synopsis states that it will focus on the Chiefs’ “Fan of the Year” contest, where a romance blossoms between one of the contestants and the fictional Chiefs officials who run the contest (King and Hines, respectively).
“We are honored to partner with Hallmark on this unique project,” said Chiefs President Mark Donovan. “As a club, we pride ourselves on finding new ways to grow our brand and connect with new audiences. This partnership brings together two passionate fan bases and brings the energy and tradition of Chiefs Kingdom to one of our most-watched shows. It gives you a chance to show off and tune in during the holidays.”
The relationship between the Chiefs’ tight end and the music megastar has been a major topic of interest since it was revealed in September 2023, and has remained so since, uniting two passionate fan bases. Swift’s appearance at Kelce’s game last year led to a surge in viewership for both the Chiefs and the NFL as Kelce helped Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City to their second straight Super Bowl win and third in five years.
Kelce returned the favor this offseason as Swift continued the international leg of her “Eras Tour,” most recently making a cameo appearance as a backup dancer at her London concert last weekend.
“There is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations, as both Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs have grown on their own, rooted in values, tradition and community,” said Darren Abbott, Hallmark Chief Brand Officer. “By combining the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we’re excited to give audiences a front-row seat to the spirit of this community, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City.”
