June 16, Astana, Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan increased its rail exports of oil cargoes to 2.3 million tonnes in January-May 2024, up 9.5% year-on-year, the Trend report said.
Kazakhstan Railways National Company reported that iron ore and manganese exports by rail increased 8.4% to 4.7 million tonnes. Black metal exports also increased by 5%, reaching 1.4 million tons. Processed food exports increased 2.3%, reaching 1 million tons.
Additionally, fertilizer exports increased 12% to 550,000 tons, and construction material exports increased 9% to 140,000 tons.
In the first five months of 2024, rail transport in Kazakhstan handled a total of 102.4 million tonnes of goods. Of these, 34.2 million tons are for export and 68.2 million tons are for domestic transportation.
In addition, coal transportation volume reached 40.6 million tons, of which domestic transportation amounted to 30.3 million tons. Additionally, more than 3.7 million tons of grain were transported by rail.
