M. Bison cannot stay dead. The iconic series villain returns to Street Fighter 6 as part of the Year 2 character DLC. The latest gameplay trailer shows off his new look, hints at a new direction for his character’s story, and gives players a look at his latest moves.
Hooded and long-haired, M. Bison may have lost his memory, but he hasn’t lost his lust for power. In the gameplay shown, M. Bison reverts his iconic Psycho Crusher move, which was just a super move in Street Fighter 5, to a normal move. On the other hand, this doesn’t seem to be the case with his fireballs from the Alpha series and 5. I’m back.
Street Fighter 6’s official Steam page details M. Bison’s new mechanic, Psycho Mine. Bison can plant Psycho Mines on his opponents by attacking them with his new move, the Backfist Combo. If he attacks again with a Backfist Combo, Psycho Crusher Attack, or Devil Reverse, the mine will explode. Or, after enough time, it will explode on its own. Bison’s opponent can prevent this by attacking Bison before the mine explodes.
In addition to his new, disheveled look, M. Bison accompanies his horse in entrance, victory pose, and world tour modes. This gives him a decent dose of apocalyptic vibes, but could also be a light-hearted reference to the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film. In the film, Raul Julia plays M. Bison, and a Napoleonic-style painting of him on horseback can be seen at his base, as seen throughout the clip below.
His well-known classic costume, which he also wore in the 1994 live-action film, has stood the test of time. This will also appear in Street Fighter 6 as his Costume 2. If the Year 2 DLC fighter adheres to the same constants, as with all previous characters, players will be able to unlock Bison’s Outfit 2 for free by leveling up his bond in World Tour mode.
Additionally, players won’t have to wait long to add Bison to their character lineup. His release date is right around the corner on June 26th, just a month and a few days after Akuma’s release. With EVO taking place this year from July 19th to 21st, Bison can legally participate in the tournament like Rashid did last year.
