Fifties from Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell helped the West Indies edge past nine-man Australia by 35 runs in a warm-up match ahead of the T20 World Cup.
As happened in the first training match against Namibia, the Aussies fielded just nine players against the Windies. Selector George Bailey and manager Andrew McDonald filled the remaining two positions while fielding.
West Indies, who batted first, had Pooran (75, 25b, 5×4, 8×6), skipper Powell (52, 25b, 4×4, 4×6) scoring 50 and Sherfane Rutherford (4×4, 4×6) scoring an unbeaten 47 off 18 balls. and raised 257. 4 overs out of 20 overs.
Josh Inglis (55, 30b, 3×4, 4×6) led Australia’s response, with Ellis making 39 (22b, 4×4, 2×6) and a number of twenty-somethings responding as Australia were 222 for 7.
Previously, Australia had Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Adam Zampa, Nathan Ellis and Ashton Agar as bowlers, all of whom achieved a lot.
All-rounder Mitchell Marsh refrained from bowling as he recovered from injury, but batted later.
The West Indies innings was built around a fine partnership between Pooran and Johnson Charles (40), who scored 90 for the second wicket and 63 for the fifth wicket in succession between Rutherford and Shimron Hetmyer (18).
The absence of skipper Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green and Travis Head has been felt as they are yet to join the squad.
They are spending a few more days at home after the taxing campaign of the recently concluded IPL.

Namibia beat PNG
Namibia defeated Papua New Guinea by 3 points in the DLS format.
When the skies opened at Taruba, PNG were restricted to 109 for 7 from 20 overs while Namibia were 93 for 6 from 16.5 overs.
However, in DLS calculations at the time, they were three points ahead.
In Dallas, the match between the Netherlands and Canada was abandoned without a bowler.
