Donald Trump made history.
But that may be a kind of history that doesn’t even happen. that I hope he doesn’t.
Late Thursday afternoon, a jury of Trump associates found the twice-impeached former commander guilty on all 34 charges related to Trump’s recent trial in which he was accused of falsifying business records in 2016.
He is the first former U.S. president to be convicted of a serious crime.
After six weeks of witness testimony and closing arguments in a Manhattan courtroom, the jury deliberated for two days before returning its verdict.
Trump is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11.
Although he could spend up to four years in prison, most experts believe it is highly unlikely that a judge will actually jail Trump.
It is also very safe to assume that this ruling will be appealed.
Trump was tried eight years ago on charges of illegally using campaign funds while running for president. There is actually no need to use that word anymore.
he definitely did use The funds were intended to repay then-attorney Michael Cohen for a deal in which Cohen paid the National Enquirer $130,000 to bury a story about Trump having an affair with a porn star named Stormy Daniels.
These types of payments are illegal because the aforementioned transactions were made explicitly with the 2016 presidential election in mind.
The money was used to influence American voters by denying them access to any information about who any of the candidates were.
Trump, who was found guilty on all 34 charges related to the crime, whined outside the court:
“This was a shame. This was a trial rigged by a corrupt and conflicted judge. This was a rigged and disgraceful trial. The real verdict will be the people’s judgment on November 5th…
“Our country has fallen into hell. We are a nation in decline. We are experiencing severe decline.”
Trump also claimed that he was a “very innocent man,” which is empirically false.
Shortly after the ruling was made public, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris released the following statements:
The threat Trump poses to our democracy has never been greater. He has been clamoring to be a dictator since his first day and he is waging an increasingly unstable campaign of revenge and retaliation, demanding that our Constitution be “terminated” so he can regain and retain power.
A second Trump term means chaos that strips Americans of their freedoms and encourages political violence, which the American people will reject this November.
Of course, this has not yet been revealed.
Because not only is Donald Trump the first former president to be convicted of a felony, he is also the first major-party presidential candidate to be convicted of a felony.
He can still be elected president.
Meanwhile, Trump has also been charged with 54 other felonies.
His three remaining criminal cases continue to face court delays and are unlikely to go to trial before the November election.
Not long ago, a spokesperson for President Biden said, “Today in New York we saw that no one is above the law.”
“Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed that he would never pay for breaking the law for his own personal gain.
“But today’s ruling does not change the fact that the American people are faced with a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office. “It’s the ballot box.”
