Brentford manager Thomas Frank has confirmed Ivan Toni will leave the club in the summer.
The 27-year-old was banned for eight months for breaching gambling regulations but has now returned to football.
Toney is one of the Premier League’s best strikers and many top clubs will be vying for his signature in the summer.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have all attracted transfer interest, but it is still unknown where the England international will ultimately end up.
arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made blockbuster signings from West Ham United last summer, including Declan Rice for a record fee. But he didn’t sign a top striker and that wasn’t a good decision.
The Gunners currently have Gabriel Jesus, who has a lot of quality but is not a good finisher. Eddie Nketiah is also a good squad option, but he is not much of a threat to score with crosses.
Ivan Toney would be a standout signing for Arsenal, who have come a long way over the past few years but are yet to win a Premier League title. The England international is tall, physically strong and offers an aerial threat. However, a transfer would depend on the price asked by Brentford and how much the Gunners have available to spend in the summer.
Manchester United
Manchester United have signed Rasmus Hojlund. £72 million summer transfer fee from Atalanta. The Dane undoubtedly has a lot of potential, but the Red Devils still need a recognized striker.
Anthony Martial is off to another long spell and is very likely to be released in the summer. Manchester United did not add any players in January due to Financial Fair Play restrictions. Therefore, we can imagine that they will have some budget to make signings in the next transfer window.
Chelsea
One of Chelsea’s biggest issues this season is their scoring ability. They currently sit 11th in the Premier League after a disappointing season under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Christopher Nkunku joined in the summer but has been sidelined for most of the season due to fitness issues. Nicholas Jackson has a lot of potential, but he is still young and far from a finished product. Cole Palmer also played as a centre-forward, but this is not his natural position.
Chelsea would love to sign a lethal striker like Toni, but they will have to be careful considering their huge spending over the last few transfer windows.
