“Neither I nor the BCCI has ever offered coaching to any former Australian cricketer,” Shah said in a statement. “The reports circulating in some media are completely wrong.”
“Finding the right coach for our national team is a meticulous and thorough process,” Shah said. “We have a deep understanding of the structure of Indian cricket and our focus is on identifying individuals who have risen through the ranks.”
The BCCI secretary-general also said that having deep knowledge of Indian domestic cricket will be one of the important criteria in appointing the next coach. He said that understanding will be important “to really take the Indian team to the next level”.
Ponting said on Thursday he had been approached to take on the role but turned it down because it did not fit his ‘lifestyle’ at the moment.

“It’s going to be amazing.
