49ers practice report: Deebo is back, Robinson originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area.
SANTA CLARA — The 49ers had three players back on the field Thursday, but they may have suffered another loss before full practice even began.
Backup linebacker Curtis Robinson, who would have had a more prominent role in the 49ers’ defense, was taken off the field early in the team’s practice session.
There was no initial word on the specifics of the injury. The 49ers issue daily injury reports after practice.
Robinson was one of the 49ers’ key special teams players and a candidate for a more extensive role in the team’s struggling defense.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, left tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Dee Winters returned for at least limited practice on Thursday after suspending the team’s field work a day earlier.
Tight end George Kittle, who sat out the 49ers’ Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury, returned to the practice field for the second straight day. He was limited in practice Wednesday.
Samuel sat out the 49ers’ game against the Rams with a calf injury. He didn’t practice on Wednesday, but was seen running at nearly full speed on Thursday.
Williams did not practice Wednesday due to an illness.
Winters was back on the field Sunday after suffering an ankle injury in Los Angeles. The 49ers plan for Winters to see more playing time alongside veteran linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, who has struggled in pass coverage.
Defensive tackle Javon Hargrove suffered a torn triceps muscle in the team’s Week 3 loss and is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.
