Earlier this week, the inaugural 2024 eSports World Cup took the world stage. The massive event in Saudi Arabia features tournaments across 22 titles across PC, console, and mobile, with a prize pool of over $60 million.
Given the scale of the tournament, brands that partner with the tournament have access to millions of fans who will watch online or attend in person. Saudi Arabia funds the eSports World Cup Foundation through its Public Investment Fund (PIF). As a result, participating brands are taking a gamble that the benefits outweigh the potential reputational risks.
In general, the 27 brands partnering with the 2024 eSports World Cup fall into three categories: unique sponsors, non-native brands, Saudi Arabian brands and government-run ones.
Eight of the 27 event partners specialize in gaming and esports, including hardware, esports-focused professional services, and developers responsible for competitive titles.
