The Great Deku Tree LEGO set includes 4 minifigures, 2 from each game. For Ocarina of Time, you get Young Link with the Deku Shield and Kokiri Sword accessories, and Link with the Magic Ocarina. The Breath of the Wild (and Tears of the Realm) side of the set includes Link and Princess Zelda minifigures. Link has the sword and Traveler’s Shield, while Zelda has the Sheikah Slate.
Also includes a variety of brick-built characters, including Korox, Deku Babas, Deku Sprout, Fairy Butterfly, Skulltula and the maracas-wielding Hestu. What’s interesting is the finished build. The Breath of the Wild version of the Great Deku Tree has an animated face that can be controlled by a lever on the back, while the Ocarina Of Time version has an opening mouth. Skulltula Monster.
The Breath of the Wild version recreates the point in the Lost Woods where Link retrieves the Master Sword. The Master Sword can be removed from its brick base and stored as a Link minifigure, which is why the set also comes with a sword rather than the Master Sword.
If you decide to switch to the Ocarina of Time version, you can remove and reconnect the Master Sword display later. You can also build Link’s house in Ocarina of Time. This cool small-scale build and all minifigures are assembled first, so even if you’re assembling a Deku tree as seen in Breath of the Wild, you can display it with the house or separately.
The Great Deku Tree is part of LEGO’s display model series. That said, it comes packaged in a black box and is recommended for experienced builders. It is a fairly complex structure with many small, differentiated pieces. I’ve built both Nintendo-themed Lego display models, and I’d say they’re a bit more detail-oriented than other models with similar part counts (Lego NES and Mighty Bowser).
As a long-time Zelda fan, I enjoyed both builds and the finished product makes a great collectible to display.
If you’ve never built a 2-in-1 Lego set before, you should know that you’re only building one or the other, not both. The way it works is that the first chunk of the build is the same for both models. About halfway through the process, you’ll have to choose between Great Deku Tree’s versions of Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time. The Breath of the Wild build shown above is the larger of the two.
What I did was create a model of Ocarina of Time first, partially disassembled it, and then made a Breath of the Wild version. It’s well designed, so switching between the two styles isn’t as bad as you might think. Keep pieces of each style in a safe place in case you want to switch later.
There are only six Nintendo-themed Lego sets classified as adults. Besides the Great Deku Tree, the remaining five kits focus on Super Mario. Last October, LEGO released a pixel art model kit inspired by Super Mario World featuring Mario and Yoshi. The 1,215-piece Mario and Yoshi LEGO set costs $130 and is currently in stock at most major retailers. The cheapest LEGO Nintendo display model is the 540-piece Piranha Plant, which sells for $48 at Walmart and Target (it’s sold out on Amazon).

Lego released more than 100 new sets on January 1, including playsets based on the aforementioned Mario Kart series as well as Animal Crossing, Sonic the Hedgehog, Minecraft, and more. The Great Deku Tree isn’t the only video game-inspired set to drop LEGO Store exclusivity in 2025. All four building sets in the new Lego Fortnite series are now available at major retailers as well. You can check out all the new releases from LEGO on Amazon.
