JAMMU: In an effort to combat the growing menace of drugs, the Jammu Police has achieved significant success in its mission to curb drug crimes in the district by conducting wide-ranging operations throughout 2024.
A police spokesperson said on Sunday that police had registered over 150 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested over 240 people involved in drug peddling.
He said, “During this period, as many as 83 vehicles related to this case were seized. In the heroin recovery case alone, about 153 FIRs were registered and 246 people were arrested.”
Among those arrested, 19 hardcore drug peddlers were charged under the stringent PIT NDPS Act, reflecting the department’s zero-tolerance approach towards repeat offenders.
